The Catholic Church celebrates the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly each year on the Sunday closest to the Feast of Sts. Joachim and Anne, Jesus' grandparents. This year, it is Sunday July 27th. The theme for this year is “Blessed are those who have not lost hope” (cf. Sir 14:2).

These words, taken from the Book of Sirach, express the blessedness of the elderly and indicate hope placed in the Lord as the way to a Christian and reconciled old age.
In the Jubilee year, the Day, established by Pope Francis in 2021, is intended to be an opportunity to reflect on how the presence of grandparents and the elderly can become a sign of hope in every
family and church community.
All are welcome to celebrate our grandparents and elderly at any of our Sunday Masses:
9 a.m. St. Stephen's - corner of Robie St. and Normandy Drive
11 a.m. St. Catherine's - Bayers Rd. between Oxford and Connolly Streets
1 p.m. St. Catherine's (St. Faustina Polish Mission)
7 p.m. St. Catherine's
