Do YOU like to colour?

Along with celebrating the Feast of St. Francis on October 4th, this year, Franciscans all around the world will be celebrating the 800th Anniversary of the song of praise that St. Francis wrote to give praise to God. It was called The Canticle of the Creatures.

Now, we invite children and youth (even adults) to check the samples that are available at the entrances of both churches and choose your favorite colouring page and return it to us. It will be another GREAT way of celebrating the 800th Anniversary of The Canticle of the Creatures.

When St. Francis wrote this famous song of praise, he was blind and not in good health. Yet, he was able to imagine all of creation very clearly in his mind. St. Francis believed that every part of creation is a part of the family, and every part of creation is under the loving care of God. That is why he wrote about the parts of nature as Brother Sun and Sister Moon. The Canticle of the Creatures remind us that we should always give thanks to God for the many gifts he gives to us.

Thanks to our own Secular Franciscans, many of the children at St. Catherine’s were involved in making a square for a quilt that would represent the creatures of God’s beautiful creation. We will be seeing that quilt soon!
